Alpha 0.29 has been released

There is a proverb in Hebrew “מים שקטים חודרים עמוק” (still waters run deep). It means that certain things are not done openly and ostentatiously, but rather quietly and without anyone noticing, and this sometimes invisible stuff may be even more important than visible features.

Alpha 0.29 is the example of that. It doesn’t add new blocks, we would not see new beautiful plants or mine new minerals. The version lacks new gaming mechanics or even new, balanced game data.

But it has something new: improved GUI system. Now the states can be divided to switchable panels in order to improve the control of GUI elements. Also, the version adds CSS-like style system.

One thing wasn’t changed: the installable and portable distribution. You can download the game and play it. Enjoy!

  • Rebuilt the GUI containing system
  • Added CSS-like styling
  • Added parser of external CSS files
  • Added showing the Kotlin version in the ‘about’ panel
  • Added more links to the official social media and to the wiki
  • Added more splashes
  • Fixed the bug that did not show layers of neighbor chunks while digging down
  • Moved the new game state and the settings state elements to XML files
  • Moved the “textarea”/”textbox” type to a separate tag
  • Changed the way biomes and types are being listed in the new game form
  • Renamed “dir” attribute to “align” and changed its value notation
  • Renamed “textbox” to “textarea”
  • Deleted ‘gen.biomes’ and ‘gen.types’ string array
  • Deleted ‘url’ element and replaced it by ‘a’ with “url” class
